Vacation is Over

20 August 2010 | La Paz
Monica
We had a great week off in Cabo with Becca. She got the tan she wanted and time spent with her dad and to feel like she had a vacation before it is off to college in the fall. She spent most of the time in the pool playing volleyball, on the beach playing volleyball or just in the pool. We had a week of air conditioning, sleeping with blankets, long fresh water showers, reliable internet and time with Becca.

This new week finds us back aboard Scott Free and of course doing projects. Well, and then finding new repairs to do among the projects. While Scott changed the engine oil this morning he noticed a small leak on the water maker that will need attention and then he noticed our hot water heater was leaking. Drat! We knew this moment would come but had hoped to put it off. Since this is Mexico, we've taken a different approach. Since it would be unlikely or difficult to get a replacement and since really the only thing we are using hot water for is dishes, we'll not fix it yet. So Scott spent the better part of the morning digging through his plumbing parts for a way to plumb things to bypass the hot water heater. We only had to buy a couple connections up at the Marina Tienda here at the marina but we got it done. So, that is done as well as the forward head repair and battery water so tomorrow will be the dingy wheels. A never ending list, but heck, it's a boat!

We are enjoying La Paz. It is definitely cooler here then up north. Heck, we've been pulling up the sheet in the middle of the night as the lows are down in the 70's. As I now look across the cabin at the thermometer it reads 94 outside and 90 inside. No wonder sweat is running down my back. What a time for my own internal thermostat to go crazy; anyone out there got some estrogen!
