Don't Cry for Me

So tonight over dinner Scott made a comment about how many people think that we are on a very long camping trip. How many of our friends think our life is primitive and that we are doing without? Because we don't jump in a car and drive everyday or we don't have a $170 a month cable/internet bill that we are some how doing without. Well, as we were eating our Costco steak fresh off the bbq with rice and broccoli, with a glass of scotch over ice and looking out at a beautiful sunset with sailboats in view we contemplate this. I did just have a hot shower, turned down the down comforter on the bed so I'm not feeling deprived or like I'm roughing it. But we did have to do dishes by hand, side by side, talking and sharing insights about our day while we do this chore, so perhaps if you think having a life with a spouse that you spend 24/7 with and talk about everything then maybe this is a tough life and we're roughing it. From where I sit it just don't feel bad.
We are heading north to Puerto Escondido for Loreto Fest. The trip has been wonderful, sharing anchorages with friends, hiking and sharing evening cocktails. The weather is getting warmer, we are thinking that we'll have to put the shades up in the windows soon. We are waiting for the water to warm up and get the clarity we experienced last summer. However, it isn't bad. We saw today while underway many many Manta Rays; Scott saw two hammer head sharks and we hit a whale shark. I didn't feel it but Scott was standing out on the bow sprit when we hit it and saw it and tomorrow will check out the hull to see how much bottom paint if any it took with it.
In Mexico this week is Semana Santa which is the week before Easter. The custom is to go camping on the beach. So, while we are here there are parties on the beaches with music, tents and lots of celebrating. We love to see this and enjoy seeing the crowds here at the beaches.
