Summer Fun

18 August 2011 | The Sea
Monica
We have been enjoying our summer in the sea, sharing these first few weeks with the middle daughter Lynsie. We are fast approaching her departure. Where have the past 6 weeks gone? We went and paid a visit to the new resort at Candeleros, laid by their pool, took a tour and got a free breakfast. We’ve gone to Salinas, V-Cove, Isla Coranados, San Juanico and La Ramada. Lynsie has been the Naturalist aboard, taking pictures of underwater sea life and then researching in our books to identify each one. You should check out her Facebook page photos where they are all documented. She’s done a great job.

We have spent time with friends on the boat The Rose. They have their grown children aboard so Lynsie has had some young people to spend time with. They have shown us how to hunt and gather Chocolates, the clams. Oh my goodness, I’m hooked! We’ve had clams on the BBQ and clam linguine. Before we head out tomorrow to move south I’m going out hunting and gathering again. Lynsie loves this but has come down with an ear infection and must keep her head out of the water. This is killing her. She’s tried talking Scott into inventing something with plastic and duct tape to go over her ear so she can go in.

The days have been warm, ok hot with an occasional reprieve thrown in such as today. It’s been overcast for most of the day and just now is getting to be 92. We did have a couple days of high humidity a week or so ago and that was really unpleasant. Funny how when it goes down into the high 80’s you think it is good sleeping weather! We’re mostly ok so long as there is a breeze to move the air around.

Sunday’s Scott and I are the Amigo SSB net hosts; alternating weeks. It is a fun diversion and we get to meet, over the radio anyway, lots of the people who are here in the sea for the summer. The first week of August is almost over and then daughter Becca will be here for two weeks. Then we’ll be to September and counting down the weeks to the summer heat breaking. Time does fly when you’re having fun!
