So we’ve been out sailing again….just not in Mexico. While back up in the Seattle area for the summer we’ve had the opportunity to go out with friends on their boats for day sails and a nice week long sail from Pender Harbor Canada back down to Anacortes.
Scott’s birthday had us driving up to Vancouver, taking a ferry and meeting our friends Bruce and Carol up in Pender Harbor. Carol fixed wonderful Oysters Rockefeller for the birthday dinner with fresh harvested oysters. The next morning Carol drove our car back down to Anacortes so she could report back to work Monday morning and we spent the following week aboard Shearwater with Bruce harbor hopping our way back to Anacortes. We visited some new places and a couple of ones Scott and I were at in the summer of 2008. We ran into Rod and Jane aboard Isabella at one anchorage; Isabella being freshly delivered from our Marina in La Paz back up here in the northwest via Yacht Path.
The whole week left us excited for when the time comes and Scott Free will be back up here with cool waters under her keel. We only had one season to explore up here before we took her south so there are many places to see still. When we bring her back is yet undecided since we would like to spend time doing this six months here six months south but we did always say being in Mexico was just a chapter in our lives not the end game. We said we wanted to enjoy the time before there were grandkids as things would change. With the oldest daughter getting married this past February and now set to make us grandparents in January we feel the clock definitely counting down on the Mexico chapter.
In the meantime, we are getting ready to head out next week with our very dear friends Jeff and Cheryl on their boat for 10 days through the San Juan’s and up into Canada. We are so lucky to have great friends and a bonus that they have boats while land locked up here for the summer!
