A Day Spent Fighting the Boat Gremlins

Renee Hughes/Cloudy but nice
Our friend and longtime live aboard sailor, Gil Perry, claims there are boat gremlins that run up and down the docks and jump from boat to boat tearing things up. Well they must be able to get from anchor to anchor too! We spent the whole day repairing & replacing things that were damaged or destroyed since the last time we were in a slip! We needed a whole new BBQ, the cool little one we had jumped into the Ocean as we were sailing along, new brackets for the stern seats, new fins for me (mine broke on our last snorkel), a new water filter and even a new kitchen sink. The filter and the sink were securely attached together so they both broke at once!
It was still a nice day running around Key Largo. Will and I first went to Key Largo in 1998 along with 15 other diving friends. Today we ate at Hobo's, one our favorite restaurants and a find since our first trip. Back in '98, Hobo's was a little place on the water (they have since moved) and we would radio in our order for lunch as we came back from a morning of diving. They would bring the food out to the dock and we would eat on the boat and then get in a couple more dives in the afternoon. Since then Hobo's has moved into a much larger, new building with a cool patio in the back. We had a lobster & shrimp roll & the dogs had a hamburger patty. We were all happy!
But by later afternoon, the traffic was crazy on highway one since it's Friday afternoon in Key Largo! After not driving for a couple of weeks, a day in a rental car made me want to go back out on an anchor or at least a beach to get away from the crazies!
