Thanks to all of you who have wished us a happy solstice. It was nice to have your messages waiting for us when we connected.

To celebrate our anniversary today, we've moved to the dock at the Gorge Harbour Marina. So far, it's one of the nicest marinas we've been to. It isn't fancy at all, but the people are friendly, and the setting is beautiful. Going ashore felt like being up in the Cascades at a lake.

When we went on deck to raise the anchor this morning, we found another Sceptre anchored next to us. I couldn't quite read the name (Two something), but the owners (Heather and Bob, I think) were in their dinghy visiting the boat anchored in front of us. They then met us at the dock and helped with our lines. Nice people from Calgary, they keep their boat in Sidney.

We've both had shore showers ($1 for 4 minutes, a minute longer than usual in Canada). John has been clued in on Desolation Sound fishing by Tara, the dock manager, and set a crab pot off the boat because she says there are rock crabs here. (I hear him fighting with one now). Tonight we're going to the restaurant for dinner, and we've rented a movie. The sky is blue and beautiful. Great day!
