Hot Springs Cove was good. It was quite a walk to the springs, but it was a walk, as opposed to a hike, on a boardwalk. To me that makes a huge difference. By the time we got there, it was almost dark. Good thing we brought a flashlight. As we were leaving in the dark, young people from the campground were still arriving.

We decided to spend two nights so that John could redo the rigging solution. The new way puts less stress on the sail and seems to be good, but today was another windless day. We motored all the way from Hot Spring Cove to Ucluelet, about 45 miles.

We've been seeing lots of humpback whales, sometimes too many, especially when it looks like we're going to run over them! I don't worry so much about running over them when we're motoring; I'm sure they can hear us. But when we're sailing, I do try to figure out which way they're going and then steer clear.
