West Marine encore

After successfully changing engine oil and fuel filters on Friday with Dave White of Windworks, I tackled the replacement of my navigation lights with sealed LED lights for energy conservation and low maintenance.
This is a typical project that took almost all day and three separate trips to WEst Marine the biggest boat chandlery in the country. Why three trips?
Mind you this is after I bought the new light fixtures.... that trip doesn't count.
Trip # 1 was to purchase new mounting screws to replace the original screws now too long and likely to rip a sail when tacking. So to limit my trips I bought 4 half inch screws and 4 three quarter knowing one or the other would work.
Trip# 2 became necessary when after threading the wires down through the bow pulpit to the interior, it became obvious that the terminal block for the original junction would now no longer work, I went to buy a new terminal block and ring terminal connections to attach to the wires. Fearing the need for an additional trip I bought two different sizes to accomodate what wire I may find.
You guessed it trip # 3 became necessary when only one of the termination ends worked and I had to go once again for another size. Since I am an optimist at heart I expect the extra parts that don't fit for this project will come in handy some day when West Marine is a plane ride away.
