El Diablo

Well yesterday it was off to port captain to check out and then on to the shop that was repairing my generator. This generator is know to me as El Diablo since it has never run well since day one and has been repaired twice so far. Kokomo has the same unit and their's is a sweet little machine but alas we have El Diablo.
We had been asked to bring the owners manual for them. When we arrived we went into the back shop (an alley with a tarp for shade) and the mechanic showed me the generator now in 100 pieces stacked in a cardboard box. I had joked to Connie that this is what I would find and I was right. The armiture is all burned up and it is quite a mess but they said no problema it would be ready Monday or maybe Tuesday!
I asked them to quote on a new unit (the quote was reasonable) so I told them to order a new unit (not the same but still Honda) I asked about dimensions for the different new unit because fitting in the locker is critical . They said wider but same height.
The genset is critical when I am at anchor more than 3days. The solar panels are not quite enough to keep up so I lose ground and the genset is needed to top off the batteries.
So I am still in Z town which is a wonderful place to wait for my genset.
