Adios Mexico!

Very Hot
Tomorrow, we leave our last port of call in Mexico, and head off to Bahia Del Sol El Salvador. We left San Diego on Oct 25 2010 and our boat has been in Mexican waters ever since. We have been down the Baja coast, into the Sea of Cortez, along the Pacific mainland down to the border with Guatamela.
We have been in small coastal towns, big cities, and up the railway to Creel in the Copper canyon. We have seen warm clear water, and red tides. We have seen a glorious aguarium of sea life, including whales and dolphins too numeous to count, jumping rays and basking sea turtles. We have seen sea birds including soaring frigate birds and blue footed boobies, along with herons, cormorants, and egrets with of course the brown pelican with their huge splash as they dive into the water from 100ft!
Most enjoyable has been the people of Mexico, friendly, smiling and ready to help even if they don't speak a word of English. Gesturing, pointing, and repeating the same words over and over in hopes that we will understand.
These people have pride in their families and community and genuinely appear to enjoy life. Which is proof you don't need a big house and matching BMW's to really enjoy life.
We set sail tomorrow on our longest crossing to date about 450 miles which will most likely taking 100 hours or more. We will actually be in Mexican waters for a few more days but will not touch land until El Salvador
The picuture is my auxiliary fuel tanks. The boat has 42 gallons in tankage, then I have carried 15 gallons in jerry jugs on deck as reserve, but I decided to go"Mexician" and use these jugs for 100 more litres of fuel.
To get the equivalent I would have had to buy 5 more five gallon jugs at$25-30 each!. These are paint thinner jugs I bought at a paint store for $4 dollars a piece. This is what all the pangas use so I went cheap and may give them away at some point.
Kokomo is going to leave a day later because they sail faster and we will stay in contact by radio if we or they need assistance.
Adios Mexico we have certainly enjoyed our 6 months
