Well as of this morning we are back to square one!...which is a good thing.
We have the engine working again, I reassembled the original fuel filter after cleaning out the trash and added a copper mesh to the fuel pick up in case there are more metal and plastic drillings. I bought some additional fuel line to repair the canabalized outboard gas tank and I found the faulty fuse in chart plotter. We are now operational and back to square one. We have alot of other maintenance projects that we are planning but now I can stop whining and we can start enjoying El Salvador.
We are still at the dock to do some boat washing and will probably join our group in the estuary anchorage in a few days.
The picture is of my gear shift lever which I had to lock in reverse. The current at ebb tide and also flood tide is 3-4 kts so my prop was spinning in the current an making a racket so I put it in reverse to stop it.
This is a beautiful resort that is full just now with local folks enjoying time off for Semana Santos (Holy week) After Easter we may have the place to ourselves again. As cruisers we pay $14 a week to use the pool and facilities and we can run a tab at the restaurants and laundry etc.
Many of the cruisers we have met have been here for 2 months.
We are planning side trips inland probably to Guatamela and elsewhere in El Salvador both when Andrew and Stephanie are here and for ourselves as well.
Oh and for Dave who recommended a vacuum guage for the filter it is ordered.
