Shopping in San Salvador

Hot and sticky
Last monday we had taken a shared van to San Salvador where I previously mentioned that we had bought sombrella material to make an awning.
It was a shared van with three other boats and one, SV Sweetie had a cracked computer screen under warranty and was looking for the place to have it repaired.
Shannon had done the research and had an address so our van driver attempted to find it. We got close, parked in a likely shopping area parking lot, and began the search but alas this was not the spot but rather a few hundred meters back down the street... which had been palatial residential block
We returned and found a huge white mansion surrounded by a 12 ft wall and a sliding metal gate at the drive with armed guard! No sign but the driver asked and was granted entrance to the grounds of this mansion.
The pix shows Shannon in front of the mansion. We went around back found a door entered and Shannon transacted her business (she speaks Spanish) and began the process for a replacement screen. Apparently this mansion belonged to one of the most wealthy families before the war here and is now a warehouse for Apple computers?
There are armed guards at almost every store and restaurant and we have been told this was a means of giving employment to all the men who fought in the war since they have no skill except carrying a weapon.
It seems strange but also seems to work.
