La Antigua

Land of Eternal spring
We got up early Sunday morning and talked to bus terminal/hotel agent and had him book us a room in Antiqua. He called two at $100 per night but Connie has a book and we asked him to call a less expensive option.... we booked a $40 a night room with private bath. We had a private car to Antigua from G city which they call a shuttle?
Antiqua is very charming all restored or semi restored 17th century Colonial buildings. It is a world heritage site so it is preserved in the tradition of the time including signage. You have no idea what is next on the street until you peer into the door! We were early to check in so we left our bags, attended mass in a very old church and walked the town or should I say we began to walk the town. This will take the full three weeks to explore properly ((being married to an Olympic class shopper)
The town is certainly full of tourists, many European, so this is not a simpe Guatemalan village but rather a town with a purpose, but still it is very charming albeit expensive. We will have to find the backpackers prices.
After all Gringos with a little silver in the hair must have money!
