Alone in Panama
11 August 2011
Since we left Golfito Kokomo and Sound Effect have been virtually alone, but yesterday another boat appeared in the anchorage. La Luz is a very small 70's cruiser with basic amenities and two very nice people aboard. Doug and Suleka An American man and Panamanian wife who are cruising the local waters, and told us that there are very few cruisers anymore. This is cruising from decades ago no boats, no marinas, and very few local people. I'm told this will change on the mainland and in the Perlas Islands but in the 3 island chains we have been in todate there have been very few people and nothing resembling a settlement. I feel pretty certain I may run out of cookies.
Last night was a small dinner party aboard Kokomo, Doug brought a Rooster fish he had speared and Kokomo and Sound Effect provided the rest of the dinner. First fresh seafood for us since the lobster in Santa Elena.
This morning Kokomo went south and Sound Effect went West. We plan to stay in contact via radio and meet up again for the final push to the canal.
Tonite we are all alone at anchor for the first time since last December.
