Aids to Navigation
15 November 2011 | Porobelo
Navigation in the San Blas is always challenging with hidden reefs everywhere.
We are fortunate to have a cruising guide with GPS waypoints to help direct us.
The picture shows what happens if you loose your concentration for a minute.
The wreck has been there a few years and every possible piece of metal and wood was stripped.
We are presently in Portobelo re provisioning and waiting for a weather window.
I expect we will leave by the end of the week and head to Provedencia. This is a tiny island about 240 miles away, then after a rest we will head another 200 miles to a even more tiny island Vivorillo Cays, then finally to Roatan the largest of the Bay islands of Honduras. From there weather is of less importance as we are in the lee of island or in the case of Belize the worlds second largest barrier reef.
