Guanaja Honduras

Squally
Thanksgiving morning we arrived in the Bay Islands of Honduras. We left from Portobelo Panama on Saturday morning and sailed nonstop 650 miles to Guanaja. That's what we did but it was hardly the plan! We had planned two intermediate stops . First in Provedencia a small Columbian island off the coast of Nicaugara , then subsequently in Vivorillo Cays before moving on to our present location.
Weather, wind, and sailing conditions provided the right opportunity to go all the way in one jump. This has been our farthest non stop sail on the trip todate.
Projected weather changing significantly spurred us to get to somewhere we may enjoy more for waiting out weather windows.
Guanaja, is the lesser know of the Bay islands, and is adjacent to the better know destination of Roatan.
These bay islands of Honduras were British possessions for years, and even the home of English pirates.
We went ashore today to check into the country and found the people friendly and open. There are many who claim English heritage and speak English so checking in was the easiest to date. We will be interested to compare to people who check in to Roatan.
For the mean time all is well we are securely anchored and will prepare for a projected storm on Monday of 45kts! (The port captain was nice enough to confirm our radio broadcast prediction with internet weather in his office.) More later with pix when we get wifi.
