Well, today marks a new beginning. After much discussion, we are about to go buy our first boat. Not just any boat, but a 1975 Chrysler C22. I have been driving past it for months over at the local used car lot, and it caught my eye every time. I have been wanting a boat for a while now, having grown up on the Atlantic coast but now residing in TN, it was the one thing that was missing.
My wife being the more practical of the two of us, was not as enthusiastic about it yet. But when we saw this C22, and she talked them down in price by over $1000, she was quite literally "on-board."
So this weekend we will be bringing her home, and starting the rebuild process. She is sea worthy as she is, although a bit worn. It will become a project for our family, and something the kids can work on "for me" while I am deployed to the middle east next year.
But when all is said and done, she will be rename the s/v Southern Star, and will be the envy of the inland waters........
I hope to use this bog to document the process, highs and lows, and maybe make some new friends in the process. So here we go....
