Back on the Boat!!!
06 July 2006 | Genoa Bay, BC

It sure feels good to be back onboard Salacia. I left Willis Point today and had a great sail up to Genoa Bay! We've been on land the last month waiting for the crew to bring the boat from Hawaii. At first, it was great! Cars, TV, ice, and large beds were all novelties. But, for me at least, it was getting to feel too busy! Sure, I'll adjust, but for now I want to stay on the boat and head North. I look forward to the spending the rest of the Summer exploring the area North of Desolation Sound. Dee is looking forward to the trip as well but I think she is enjoying the land experience a little more than I am. She seems a bit stressed when I start talking about our next offshore trip :)
Before I get ahead of myself let me step backwards in time a bit. We flew home from Honolulu on June 8th after getting the delivery crew acquainted with the boat. After arriving home in just 6 hours, compared to our 19 days sailing to Hawaii, we visited with long lost friends and family. The boat arrived at RVicYC on July 3rd. They had very little wind and a very long passage! The good news is that the journey was very light on the boat. No serious breakage. But, the boat was a mess. I think they went through every cabinet on my boat and rearranged the contents! As well, the boat had more food on board than we can eat for the next several months. Needless to say, I don't think they did a good job of provisioning for their trip, all on my nickel! Oh well, at least I didn't have to deal with fluky light winds and a month long trip from Hawaii.
We we spent a couple of days cleaning and re-stowing the boat and visiting friends at Willis Point. It was sure handy to get the use of their dock! Now, we're slowly meandering North, returning to Victoria by the end of the Summer.
I'm not sure if we will continue to post updates or not...
