Speakeasy is anchored just meters away from the largest and most beautiful waterfall I've ever seen. It's delightful to be back in Princess Louisa Marine Park after our last visit in May 2005 - it's warmer this time and we've enjoyed falling asleep to the rumbling sounds of water tumbling down the rocky cliff into the sea below.
After four days on the boat, we're falling into a different rhythm than we have on land - less doing and more enjoying the moment at hand. This pace is what I love about being on the boat -slowing down and becoming more aware of my surroundings - if I don't, I might miss an eagle sitting on a branch overhead or a seal swimming by the boat.
I'm challenging myself to get out of my comfort zone every day. Yesterday, I drove the boat for a couple hours, which allowed me to become more familar with our electronic chart plotter. The day before I tried paddleboarding for the first time and loved it - I credit my good balance to all my yoga and dance classes.
A goal I have for this shakedown cruise is determining what we really need and don't need on the boat. Speakeasy's storage capacity, with drawers and shelves galore, is actually greater than our condo. I have already determined that I have brought too many pieces of clothing and not enough fresh fruit and vegetables, despite my large fridge. Thankfully, Speakeasy's large freezer is full and we are eating well. We'll consume far less canned tuna, salmon and chicken on Speakeasy than on Salacia.
After just a few days on board, it feels like we're shifting gears and heading into a more healthy lifestyle.
