It's Not Always Sunny and Warm

Just a few days ago we were enjoying gentle breezes and warm sunny days. But, for the last few days things have been very different!
A large cold front has settled in on the west coast of Mexico and the weather has been more like a BC spring day. It's been very windy, cool, and yes, even rainy! To make it interesting, we don't the normal rain down here that us northerners are used to. Instead, we get intense squalls with wind that comes from all directions, followed by torrential rain. Last night, for example, it rained 5cm.
Today, after a night of wind & rain, we awoke to puffy cumulus clouds and bright sunshine. It was incredibly fresh with crisp clear air that had a strong earthy smell. It was lovely, but it was not to last. We've had several more squalls through the anchorage today with more rain falling now.
Tomorrow we are promised that this low pressure system will start to fall apart. The temperature should rise from the unseasonal lows of 15-20c and start to climb back to the 25-30c that we should be having. BrrrrÉ We can't wait!

Yelapa is a small village on the South shore of Banderas Bay, near Puerto Vallarta. Unless you own a hummer, is only accessible by boat which gives it a nice laid back vibe

Manzanillo is a huge commercial port between Puerto Vallarta and Zihuatanejo. Not that much tourism here which makes it a very authentic Mexican city

Isla Isabella is an island about 20 miles offshore Mexico, between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. it is a nesting ground for a number of sea birds and has been the subject of several documentaries. The birds and lizards on the island have no fear of humans.

"Speakeasy" is a 2007 Manta 42 MKIV Catamaran. We purchased her in 2013 from the original owners. Manta's come fairly well equipped from the factory for offshore cruising. We will be adding the rest of the necessary equipment.
