Mark
After a very pleasant 3 day, 464 nautical mile passage we are now here in Vanuatu, comfortably anchored in the very calm waters of Anglowhat Bay on the island of Aneityum.
We had a little bit of stress last night when friends of ours on Kiapa who were already at Aneityum were told that they could not check into Vanuatu here even though they had written permission to do so, like we have. For a while, we diverted North to Tanna Island where there is a full customs station. But, within a couple of hours I heard back from my contact at Vanuatu customs who told us we definitely could check in at Aneityum. So, we turned South again. His info conflicts directly with the police station here, but we will wait and see if a customs agent arrives at the boat today or not. For now, we will relax, recuperate, and give the boat a post-passage cleaning.
As a point of interest, we are now at the furthest point South that we have been our entire voyage. And, we only go South from here as well. Keep in mind that since we are in the southern hemisphere, South means further and further from the equator. We are already noticing the changing weather. During the night watch, the long pants and jackets came out on this passage. Oh oh!
