Revenge of the Volcano

Yesterday, we visited the volcano. Last night, the volcano visited us. I guess we pissed her off!
A product of the increased volcanic activity is lots and lots of ash. Usually, the trade winds blow it away from our anchorage. But, the fickle and disturbed winds overnight send clouds of ash our direction. We awoke this morning to the entire boat coated with a layer of ash. And, it wasn't only the horizontal surfaces. The vertical surfaces facing the breeze are also coated right to the top of the mast!
Cleaning this will be a huge job that can't even be completed in one go. I've rinsed the decks, sprayed the halyards, shrouds, and mast as high as I can reach. But, even though Speakeasy looks much cleaner, there is still fine ash in every nook and cranny.
Later on, more cleaning!

Yelapa is a small village on the South shore of Banderas Bay, near Puerto Vallarta. Unless you own a hummer, is only accessible by boat which gives it a nice laid back vibe

Isla Isabella is an island about 20 miles offshore Mexico, between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. it is a nesting ground for a number of sea birds and has been the subject of several documentaries. The birds and lizards on the island have no fear of humans.

"Speakeasy" is a 2007 Manta 42 MKIV Catamaran. We purchased her in 2013 from the original owners. Manta's come fairly well equipped from the factory for offshore cruising. We will be adding the rest of the necessary equipment.
