Our passage started out windy & rough and ended with soft breezes and calm seas. Yes, it was nice and calm as we approached Bundaberg, but it was exasperating sailing so slowly knowing that our destination was so close at hand.
But, we made it and have now crossed the entire Pacific!
We are currently anchored in the river outside of the marina waiting to check into the Australia.
Our new friend appreciated the calm platform of our slowly sailing catamaran. He was intent on landing on the deck and was quite fearless of me trying to chase him away. Eventually, I gave up, knowing from past experience that he would keep trying to land, over and over again.
He settled on the deck and watched us for a while before moving to the center of the foredeck, tucking his head under his wing and falling fast asleep. And, let me tell you, this bird is a solid sleeper! As we neared Bundaberg I dropped the jib which fell on the deck all around him. He didn't wake up.
I then worked around him, nearly stepping on him, as I flaked the jib. He still didn't wake up! I wish I could sleep like this bird.
Anyway, enough writing for now. We need to clear customs and start our visit to Australia!
