Time winding down
27 October 2011 | Marina Del Rey
Sorry it's been over a week since we last posted. There hasn't been to much going on here, but here's whats been happening.
Within a week of being in Marina Del Rey, we easily got into our usual daily routine. We start with our coffee hour, followed by a few hours of work. Lunchtime usually includes a walk to West Marine and food somewhere, sometimes a ciesta after lunch , then a few hours of work. Dinner at around dark.
One morning, we had a mexican standoff with a sea lion. He was sitting on the first corner we walk to on our way up the dock, towards the pavement. When we approached him and tried to slowly pass him, he would charge at us while showing off his big teeth! After a few more attempts of passing him, we decided to get the hose out. Back in San Francisco, Pier 39 in Fisherman's Wharf, the sea lions are protected. They have taken over the pier and boater's can't do anything about them, except wait. Here, in LA, we are allowed to use a hose of water on them. And as soon as we got the hose out and turned the water on, he jumped into the water. Apparently he has seen hoses before.
The crew of Tanga was sick for a few days last week. Once our fevers broke, we were feeling pretty good within 24 hours.
We enjoy our morning dingy rides around the harbor. This harbor is huge.
I love that a big grocery store is withing walking distance. In the last month, while cruising down the coast, I have been grocery shopping in corner markets and convenient stores. So having a big grocery store so close has been wonderful.
We've rented bikes a few times now, and we ride down to Venice Beach. The bike path swerves along with the beach on one side and store front on the other side.
We are getting ready to leave Marina Del Rey and cruise down to San Diego. We're hoping to leave within the next day or two. We'll keep ya posted.
