14 January 2012 | Harbor Island, San Diego
Our Friday began with us going shopping at West Marine. We picked up a Satellite Phone, a new Anchor, VHF antenna and a bunch of miscellaneous items. Then we walked over to another store, SeaBreeze Bookstore, and bought a ton of papercharts for the South Pacific Islands. Boy are there alot of islands out there for us to explore!
Once we were back on Tanga, I tinkered with the Satellite Phone while Tom went to work on painting new markings on our anchor chain. We already had markings on half of the chain and we needed to do the same on the second half. We now have white markings on every 20 feet of chain. The markings will help us know how much chain we have released while setting our anchor.
Other projects completed on Tanga this week: new water pump installed on Ethel, an oil change and one new fuel filter. Also, cockpit speakers installed. Tom had already pulled the wires for the speakers and now they are installed and working great.
As for us leaving San Diego? Monday has now turned into Thursday. A weather system combined with the slow progress of projects, has us looking at Thursday for a departure. We will keep you posted.
