About one day before the 2nd big storm hit us; it weakened as it got closer to Fiji and moved south of us. We did have heavy rain and winds, which caused some of the low lying villages to be evacuated, but here at the marine, we were safe and sound.
On to boat projects. The big one being the bottom paint job. It took 2 guys 2 days to scrap off all the layers of bottom paint. Then another 2 days with 2 guys, sanding the remainder of the paint off. I swear they looked like sweaty blue smurfs when they were done each day! We then had good and hard look at the bare hull. We were both very excited to see that we did not have one blister spot on the hull! So after a few coats of primer and a few coats of the new anti-foul paint, we are just about ready to be dropped back into the water!
Besides that, Tom needs to do some maintenance on our outboard for the dinghy. The outboard was spitting and coughing on occasion, at the end of last year. So, it needs some tender loving care so that it runs in tip top shape this year. Then we need to put the dinghy back together/inflate it and store it on top of the bow of the boat.
We really can not wait to be back in the water and be out of Vuda Marina. We are both anxious to be living our normal cruising life, playing in the water everyday and enjoying island time! Ah, Musket Cove on Malolo Lai Lai Island, we hope to be there soon!
