Home Again: San Blas, Nayarit MX

Capt Rich
The Port Captain remembered us this morning when we entered his office to officially check into San Blas and with the town's brick oven bakery only a block away after leaving his office, we quickly started to enjoy one of the things I love about this town, the food. From the Bakery we went to the house, currently under repair, of our friends Amy and Marcos for a visit followed by the holy grail of the Las Cuatas Taco Cart. The cart has been in operation since 1967 and this year has undergone a major renovation. In years past, the cart operated out of the back of a converted pick-up truck but now the same mouth-watering tacos are served out of a brand new stainless steel taco cart complete with hand wash station, new benches, and taco grill. As one would expect, the new top class taco cart came at a price, and the famous $8 peso tacos are still a deal at $9 pesos each, or about $0.73USD. The workers are the same and remembered us right away, to Lori's astonishment. Where does Lori think I go to all the time when looking for "boat parts"?
The 26hr trip down form Mazatlan was a classic motor boat ride and the only time the engine was turned off is when we ran the starboard fuel tanks dry, just as we were leaving Mazatlan in thick fog about the same time our Radar unit died. With an electric fuel pump, priming and restarting the engine was easy. I'll be bringing the radar display head back to San Diego with me later this month for repairs because the foggy night passage dodging shrimp boats would have been a LOT more difficult if it wasn't for our good friends on SV Bamboo that stayed near us through the night to alert us of incoming traffic.
Lori is napping, I have no idea what the kids are doing (it's nice to have a big enough boat to be able to say that) and I'm getting ready for an afternoon nap myself now that we are home again in San Blas.
The above photo is how we protect ourselves from the famous San Blas Bugs!
