We went to Spainsh lessons this morning and then grocery shopping. My new Spanish word for today is "abborotes". It means grocery store. First, we sidetracked to our favorite taco stand and had 2 carne asada tacos apiece. They were yummy. I have to make sure that I do not go shopping on an empty stomach as I tend to buy too many cookies that Rich and the kids eat before I can have any. I need to find new hiding places. We have eaten most of our fruit and veges so we checked things out in the big Mercado by the main square. The star fruit looked magnificent and the trays of jacka fruit called my name. I was still a little hungry when we saw the fruit so I bought quite a bit. Unfortunately, we did not have the good cloth bags with us to carry things home so we could not get some of the other things we needed. I will get them tomorrow. During the mile and a half walk back to the dingy we saw a truck with watermelons in the back so for 15 pesos ($1.25) we took turns juggling the green basketball sized watermelon with the rest of our loot. We made it back to the boat with the watermelon intact and only one star fruit squished. I would call that a win in my book. The bugs have not been bad and the kids are doing well with their school work. On occasions like this I get to relax and enjoy a good day in paradise.
