St Patricio Day

18 March 2012 | Mexico Style
Capt Rich
If you have ever seen a Catholic Church or Mexican calendar, you will notice that every day is a particular Saints day to be remembered and celebrated. The diez y siete de Marzo (March 17th) is Saint Patrick's day and with St. Patrick being the patron saint of the Malaque, it's party time. Our time in Mexico has taught us to never miss a town party because the friendly and open Mexican culture is on full display with most of the town's population in attendance. And since Mexico is a young Country in term of it's population demographics, everywhere you turn there are kids and young adults having fun.

The Fireworks Tower in the town's Square would be a Trial Layers Dream back in the States.

Rockets for the huge pin wheel fireworks. Some of these will burn through the twine that holds them on the frame and go flying into the crowd.

Ah and the Food made by the local Church group, encheladas del rey

Then Food stop No 2, El Pastor Tacos

Then, in a sight only seen outside the USA, the Flying Cross literally flies off the top of the tower, showering the plaza and everyone in it in sparks!

But what comes up, must come down and the still burning cross falls back into the Plaza full of people to the cheers of the crowd.
