No Brain Washing Here!

24 May 2008 | Bakersfield, Ca
40 days until we move aboard full time
It's clear to see that there has been no brain washing in the Boren house! This Memorial Day weekend marks the 40-day point until we move aboard THIRD DAY and rent the house in preparation for our pending cast off. It's really starting to sink in as each day we cross another items off the "To-Do-List"...but unfortunately it seems that for each one we cross off, another one gets added! Entire days can be totally consumed with a project and then we go to mark it off the list, and find it wasn't even there....stealing from us the joy of at least crossing something off.

Work on the boat will really pick up to a fevered pace in June. A friend is flying out from the East coast to help install our home designed and built Water maker/Generator unit and help me work through the remaining boat projects before our July 4th move aboard. I'm sure the total boat cost tally will move up in direct proportion to the number of completed projects, but we are so far over our original budget at this point, all we can do is laugh at our earlier lack of understand of what it really would take to get a 30yr old boat refit for cruising. Sure looking down our purchase and spending list, there were things we could have done without or left off. A perfect example is the two folding bikes that Lori received for Mothers Day. We could have saved $300 and done without the bikes, but what's $300 spread over the length of our cruise? least that's how the mental justification goes as we add to the total "cost to Cast off" list.

Our new website is currently in the works, the site currently routes you to the site as a place holder....but more on that later, for now I have to go make sure that my son Jason doesn't turn his only pair of dress shoes into a Ketch!!
