Blind as a Bat

Last night was full of excitement. While our radar was still working we were motoring around lightning and thunder squalls. At 0130hrs this morning the Furuno 1715 radar unit started showing the error message "No heading Pulse" which left us at the mercy of the traveling squalls. Lori calls it luck, but I call it good seamanship that kept THIRD DAY out of the thunder/lightning squalls. I'm not sure that we will be able to make a fix from anchor in Turtle Bay but we will send Lori up the mast to check on the connector fittings, while I dig through the wiring down below. I have a feeling that we will be making the rest of the trip to La Paz without radar and make the fix in La Paz.
The entire crew is doing well and enjoyed last nights dinner of Tuna, Rice, vanilla pudding with bananas and "nilla" cookies. Our Bow water tank hit empty yesterday, so we will be running the water maker to fill the tank and top off our second 50 Gal starboard water tank while motoring to Turtle Bay. I'm sure the hot showers that the entire crew has been taking wouldn't be looked on favorably by the bare essential type of cruisers, but it sure does make for a happy crew! George, aka "thatboatguy", we have been singing your praises form the shower stall for helping us get an almost unlimited supply of fresh water! What other boat uses freshwater to rinse fish blood off the boat while underway and then decides to rinse down the boat for good measures, just because we can?
The weather has been very warm with a current air temperature of 80deg and a water temp 79.7deg!! The fishing has been fabulous for the entire Ha-ha fleet. It seems that almost every boat dragging something has pulled in some type of fish.
We should arrive in Turtle Bay around 1500hrs (3PM) and will enjoy two days at anchor along with the beach potluck and activities for the kids to stretch their legs. The kids have been doing great, really enjoying themselves and helping out whenever needed and then staying out of the way at all the right times.
Last but certainly not least. HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY Lucca Boren! Mark and Andrea, we really miss you guys and wish we could be there for Lucca's Big First B-Day Party. Amy and Jason want to pass along their Happy Birthday wishes as does the entire crew of THIRD DAY. If you think the last year was fun, just wait until December when Lucca's new baby brother Rocco arrives. It will be tiring, but fun for sure!
Regards
From the Crew of S/V THIRD DAY
