A Helping Hand

27 February 2009 | The crew of THIRD DAY and Jack from SV Just-a-Minute at work
Capt Rich
Our friends aboard SV Guenevere have been away from their boat to deal with some tragic family issues in the States, so when we saw their boat covered in dirt and grime, it was the least we could do to give her a good scrubbing. We called our friends on SV Just-a-Minute and asked if Jack wanted to help out. At first he thought we were asking him to clean OUR boat, and he still agreed to help. He understood things a bit better when he arrived and found that it wasn't THIRD DAY he would be cleaning but a friend's boat.

Everyone had a good time playing in the water, uh...I mean cleaning, in the hot Mazatlan Sun and now Guenevere is looking good. SV Just-a-minute will be spending the summer in the Sea of Cortez and as of this hour, we think THIRD DAY will be going into the sea as well for the summer. But, as followers of the blog and our travels have come to expect, we like changing our plans, just to keep you checking in with the blog! Who knows, one day you might just check on us and find we are in the South Pacific!

We will be leaving the Marina Mazatlan today and heading for the free anchorage in the old harbor. We have heard both good and bad about the area, which is 100% typical when you ask your fellow cruisers for an opinion on an area. 1/3 will love it, 1/3 will hate it, and 1/3 will comment even if they have never personally been there...but that pretty much explains how news and advice spreads in the cruising community.
