Escape to Guadalajara
12 August 2016
Technically we are still in Puerto Vallarta waiting out hurricane season but it was time for a change of scenery and since Guadalajara is only 5 hours away by bus, we decided to fork over the $30 bus fare and take a road trip to the big city. Nice big tour bus, a/c, wi-fi and movies. While we did take in The Cobbler with Adam Sandler (pretty funny), the scenery outside the bus definitely kept me distracted. The mountains and valleys were so green with a lot of corn crops and blue agave fields, horses, cows and sheep. We even drove across an old volcano crater with fields of lava rock, really cool. Upon arrival at the Zapopan bus terminal, we hired an Uber ride to our AirB&B which is in a great location, walking distance to so many great restaurants and through some lovely neighborhoods with huge trees. We made it to dinner just before a big rainstorm which was perfect, I could satisfy my craving for some soup, french onion, yum. The weather here is much cooler and less humid than PV, down to the 60's at night, ahhhhh.
