Panama Canal Transit am
05 April 2017
So, here we are in Shelter Bay Marina, Colon, on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal. We finally made it through!
After crewing as line handlers for our friends on Solar Flair and then transiting ourselves, we gained experience in three separate ways to transit, quite an addition to our resume!
Our day began quite early. We were up at 4:30 to have coffee and breakfast and prep the boat for the day. A pilot boat dropped off our advisor at 6:30am. Those pilots can maneuver the boat so close to let the advisor step off and then back quickly away. Very powerful motors!
