We awoke slowly to torrential rain. The large fishing vessel that picked up a line next to us during the night was still there. Brendan and Charles (well mainly Brendan then) changed the oil, belts and raw water impeller. We had a late breakfast and sat around and chatted, read books got the latest weather gribs. After lunch the rain stopped as suddenly as it started. We dropped our stern line and picked up the anchor turning the corner and were greeted with a spectacular view of cascading waterfalls from near vertical cliffs some over 1200m high, as we motored from Precipice Cover to Deep Cove in Doubtful Sound. The crew stood on the deck and viewed the spectacle in awe. Bright sunshine and our boat drying out as we were entertained with large dolphins working the pressure wave and leaping around the bow.
We have picked up a mooring line (Multiplatform 4inches) behind a fishing boat in Deep Cove. We are in good spirits but a little sad at losing two of our crew as they go back to their sad land locked lives. We are delighted at the prospect of having Joy join the crew tomorrow.
Signing off âGood as Gold.â
