Gale warning in force for Puysegur

Gale warning in force for Puysegur: winds Northwest 45 knots, poor visibility in periods of rain. Well, another Pusegur day! Bob McDavit once said that Puysegur only has one gale free day per month and, so far in my admittedly limited experience, I have to agree with him. We are snugly tucked into our little anchorage in Evening Cove in Port Pegasus, firmly tied to the shore by two stern lines. It has rained most of the day and, despite our protected anchorage, our wind charger has slowly kept charging the batteries.
We have read books, chatted, napped, baked and eaten fresh bread, fiddled with long range forecasts for our next adventure; and enjoyed lengthy, unresolved discussions on heavy weather sailing.
We have also discovered a new class of leak in the various cabins: Thin water! These are leaks that are not apparent even in breaking seas that become evident when the rain pours.
We have been deprived of news of the outside world having no internet or phone connections and are grateful for the text messages and news updates (thank you Brendan) and updates about the Round New Zealand Race (thank you Jon Henry and Matthew). We are excited to see the blog site when we come into Oban and see all your comments - thanks for your support.
Butter chicken for dinner.
The accompanying photo is of Vicky in the galley. Vicky has single handedly provisioned the yacht and cooked every meal. She is also master of the stores inventory and is the only one on board that knows where everything is. She has also hidden all the treats from the skipper even Diane's Fruit cake, which comes out on special occasions where we have minor triumphs to celebrate.
