Port Pegasus to Halfmoon Bay (Stewart Island)

Wednesday morning dawned with lots of wind but clear skies. Joy, Vicky and Charles went ashore to explore - not for long but enough to get a lie of the land. There were few sandflies - our theory is that they are poor flyers and the wind makes it hard for them. Tom again did all the rope work and we extricated ourselves with little drama from our anchorage with serious amounts of rope on the deck. With the wind coming initially from our stern we sailed under reefed jib (later shaking the reef as the wind moderated) and did the 42nm in 5 and a half hours.
About 4nm out our cell phones started to work and suddenly the crew became distracted with information overload from the outside world. Both a welcome and unwelcome intrusion into our very yacht centric lives.
The accompanying picture is of the yacht in Evening Cove Port Pegasus looking back from our walk.
