We spent the morning filling the fuel tanks and gas - hopefully fo the last time. Last night the skipper started the diesel heater with the sea plug in the exhaust and we got a little diesel fumes into the yacht when we got it started. Transpired that the increased pressure in the exhaust system had displaced the water in the little loop of copper that serves as a drain at the lowest point of the exhaust. The skipper thought about this all night. So at 4 o'clock in the morning with a little plastic pipe and a mouth full of water the skipper blew a little pit of water back into the trap - all worked as it should when it was started.
Simon has had his final walk around Stewart Island down into Paterson Inlet and enjoyed a last bit of Blue Cod with Charles from the Kia Kart. Kevin and Simon catch the 3.30pm ferry to Bluff this afternoon.
We are thinking of taking our chances with the weather Wednesday or Thursday so a few more days in Stewart Island.
