A long time ago in mid Pacific, Guam to be exact, I was on a flight to sunny Southeast Asia for my senior trip. We had to stop there for only about an hour for fuel and it was around 0300 when we off loaded the plane. I walked into the one room terminal and sat down trying to stretch my legs before the next leg of a very long trip to Saigon. As I awoke from a short nap, I looked across the aisle to see a college roomie looking at me. He was heading home and I was heading "there". A few minutes later each of our journeys resumed.
Fast forward to today and I saw a boat tie up astern of us in this little town in northern Florida. Their hailing port is Rockport, Texas. Three years ago they sailed from Kemah, Texas to Key West and were on their way back from colder ports north of here. I mentioned that we know a cabbie in Key West with a bird named Mango. They asked if we know the crew of Heart of Gold. We do. In fact, they are friends from Port Aransas. What a small world. The beat goes on. That boys and girls is one of the real attractions to cruising.

Tomorrow, we sail to St. Augustine and points south. Given the short days, it will be in the ditch and flat out--or not.
