The passing of my life mate has ended the cruise of Why Knot. Thanks to those that followed her voyages. It gave us wonderful memories and a heck of a life

Our greatest challenge was to actually bring in the dock
lines at our home port and get going. Next came the actual
act of living aboard which is way different than weekending or
the occasional extended sail. This is life avoiding causing your
mate to drop stuff or run into bulkheads. This is having so much
stuff aboard that one has to inventory. This is life without land
transportation in strange places. This is meeting folks and hating
to say good bye, then looking forward to the time when courses cross
again, to the surprise of seeing them at some unexpected place.

The repair to our house is well underway and we think we will be done with it by the end of next week or sooner. That being the case, we have started the go box and are in the midst of trying to guess how cold it will get before the holidays so we can guess at the clothing requirement. That said, the go box is smaller than in the past due to the fact that we do not need to take a lifetime supply of parts and general stuff back to the boat. But wait! We have Scurvs sea bag and gear.
We are definitely looking forward to getting back to cooler climates. The temperature differential between Solomons and Canyon Lake, Texas is only 20 degrees. So, the idea is to take a few days on the way back to see some touristy things and be back on the Bay in time to do some fall sailing and boat watching of those heading south for the winter.
