SANDY DAY ZERO (MAYBE)
10/29/2012 3:54 AM
There is nothing quite like being awakened by a very cold, wet nose in one's ear at 0300, especially when the perp is not ones mate. The source of the noseing was Scurv, ABSD, ships security officer. He did not get the memo to stand down since we are in a land dwelling. Thus, we took a little walk in the cold rain this morning. As I was patiently standing and listening to the rain pelting my foulie hood, it was obvious that Sandy will make a mess of things. It was still over 200 miles from land.
10/29/2012 8:30 AM- I just checked Why Knot and found her dancing lively in the slip but otherwise doing well. She will see winds approaching hurricane force (75 mph) by midnight. Hopefully, those winds will not come down the long fetch toward her. We just saw a report about a Coast Guard rescue of passengers on a tall ship at sea just offshore of the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Her name is HMS Bounty of the movie fame. She has now sunk. Wow! Fourteen saved and three unaccounted. We hope the sea has not claimed them. More later.....
