Annapolis to Chesapeake City
6/4/2013
It was a 54 nautical mile day that took us out of the Chesapeake and almost to the Delaware Bay. We left Annapolis at 0600 bound for Chesapeake City, a town almost mid way through the connecting canal from the Chesapeake to the Delaware. Our day started with brisk winds on the nose and 6 feet seas and ended with one world class sunset. Along the way we had a sea water impeller failure that delayed us 18 minutes. That is not my best change out time. We saw 3 knot opposing and 3 knot assisting current in the process. The reward for the day was dinner ashore and one really good cheeseburger. So, tomorrow we sail to Cape May, New Jersey. As I sit in the cockpit tonight the sound of cars crossing the bridge along with the sounds of obnoxious geese fill the air. The anchorage, though small, is dead calm giving rise to thoughts of how this place must have been when almost two centuries this canal was built. Early to the rack tonight for we sail at 0600 for Cape May.
