Mainly Maine
July 16, 2013
Ok, so we have had a chance to noodle the possibilities and have had a change of thinking. We have driven some of the coast and visited several harbors from land. The harbormaster here has mentioned several “typical” Maine destinations and the nice thing is that they are not far apart. There are harbors about every 15 miles or so and most are unique examples of deep water and rocky shores. The Isle of Shoals is only about six miles offshore from Portsmouth. We are told that is a good destination. One does not have to sail far down east to experience Maine. Rather than head “up west” from here, we will see more of Maine before turning around.
Our new British friends, aka Team Ruffian, passed us today on their trek . They will most likely see all of the Maine coast before heading to the islands for the winter. We hope to see them before they leave “the Colonies.
