Prepping for the Move
17 June 2014
starting to get warm here
The prep for WKs trip back to Texas has started. The sails are down as well as the boom. The mast comes off today and then Bligh becomes the packing coolie. The process starts with the relocation of the crew to a nearby hotel so that I may roam and pack the gear below for the trip. They are to cool their heels and nap most frequently whilst I polish my packing skills. I have been caught several times recently dumpster diving for boxes but, hey, they won't see us again around these parts for a while if ever again. Mind you, I don't actually get into the dumpster but it helps if it is half full so I can retrieve boxes from the door. So much for the grander side of cruising.
So, there are several items that complicate the move. The fuel pump should arrive today so the issue there is whether or not to let this yard install it or wait until she gets to Houston. Then there are several other items needing attention on land before we leave. We plan to leave Maryland soon, most likely before Sunday. Why Knot will not be ready until after that.
