Bill/sunny and warm
I got back to Zephyr having used the fast internet at the cruisers lounge about sun up. Much faster there and a nice place to spend some time. Tracy had made a modified egg mc muffinusing real bacon instead of Canadian bacon. Sure went down easy and then it was off to do projects. While the morning net was still on, I was in the engine compartment changing out our water filter. We filter just about all the water that comes onboard through a charcoal filter and a paper filter just to make sure what we get is as good as it’s goint to be. The pump pulls the water out of our tanks and the. It goes through another paper filter before it comes out of all the faucets. A simple swap out but as with everything on a boat, it has to get in line to get done. We try and make lists of projects for when we stop. With that done, I got Tracy to give me one of here great haircuts. and I think I may have had my hair cut only one other time by someone else but doubt it as she does such a great job and you can’t beat the price.
Next, we collected all the laundry, loaded it onto a two wheel cart and I was off for the Laundry Room here at the. Marina. Five washers(four work) and TEN driers. No clue why so many more driers than washers but it’s better equipped than. Most of the laundry rooms we’ve been in except for Paradise Village in Puerto Vallarta. It has dozens of washers and driers but it’s also a commercial facility. I’m sitting just waiting for the wash to be done and as I wait, Tracy is back on board doing the really messy and time consuming task of defrosting our two freezers. Ones by Cool Blue Technautics and the other is a portable Engel freezer that plugs into a 12 volt outlet. We installed the Cool Blue back in Port Townsend before we ever left and it’s been a really great unit, using about 3.5 amps per hour. The Engel was purchased in Namibia on the west coast of Africa as we made our way up that coast. They made us an incredible deal on it that we couldn’t pass up and it’s been great ever since allowing us to have ice cubes when ever we want them. A real treat for most long distance cruisers but both need defrosting from time to time. Next job is to fill our water tanks again. We hold about 260 gallons so we don’t have to fill t hem often. This afternoon, off to one of the local pharmacies to get more meds so I don’t run out when none are available.
A few days ago, when we were at Sams, we found a replacement back pack to haul around things when we head for town. My last one was purchased in the US and has pretty well died with the zippers no longer working. Our new one by Swiss Gear has more pockets than I can count and I really have to think where I put stuff in it. The last one had just two pockets. This one has six zippered pockets and more with no zippers. It sure is well built.
