Hiking

We spent the day hiking around Isla Salispuedes, first this morning and again this afternoon. We launched Pufff about 0900 and took off for a tour of the coast line of the island and then headed ashore to see what the island had to offer. We found a few trails up to the tops of several of the bluffs that gave us some good views of the island and the surrounding channels. Since I can't post any pictures on my SSB, it will have to wait till we get internet. Tons of shells(mainly oyster) and others to keep our interest. Pelicans are abundant even in the dry vegetation around the island. Every where I walked, I could hear the crunch of the dry brush under my feet. This morning, I wore my Crocs and this afternoon as we were going to hike quite a bit more, we pulled out our actual shoes we've used in the past for hiking. Our biggest problem is that we hardly ever wear these shoes and once we got to shore and put on actual socks(last worn two years plus ago and were now used to cover liquor bottles). Once we got the socks on and put on the shoes, the soles of my shoes immediately fell off the bottoms of my shoes. I was back to Crocs for my afternoon hiking. Tracys shoes waited till we were ashore and already doing the hiking before falling off. First one shoe then the other. She was on here way back to Puff when the second sole parted from the shoe. With her heading back to Puff, I continued on till I got to the highest point on the island and got more pictures of the desert landscape the the coastline around the island. We looked once back on board for our tubes of "Shoe Goo" that we have used before on these shoes and others but what we had left had hardened. Now we have to find more once in a bigger town.
The weather forecast for today was for winds from the southwest in the low teens. What we got were northwest winds of less then ten or maybe even five knots. We were just fine where we plopped out anchor yesterday afternoon and will be fine for the night. Tomorrow, probably off for another island or maybe a cove along the Baja shore. Not sure yet, have to see what the next wrong forecast is in the morning.
