Off and running

Bill/cloudy
OK, we’ve been home since late Saturday and haven’t really stopped since. We tried to acclimate during Sunday, knowing we were going to have to find a refrigerator on Monday. Ours had died a few years ago and we needed a new one or at least one we could afford. We were lucky that our wonderful neighbors loaned us a nice ice chest and a bunch of ice packs to keep our food cold till we could get a fridge to the house. Monday we were off and running by 0900 heading to a used appliance store. The first store we looked at just didn’t have one we could live with so we headed for the next store where we scored. We found an LG fridge that had just come in used on sale for $599. Built in 2013, it was in great condition with only a few scratches plus it was even bigger than our old fridge. The bad thing was it was going to take week to get it delivered. Luckily, there was a U Haul store right next door. I walked over, rented a pickup and we took it home. Now here is where it got interesting. It wouldn’t fit through any of our doors!!! Front door, garage door or the back door! Tracy suggested that we look on You Tube for a video and low and behold, there was a great video on how to take the doors off. It took a while but we got it taken apart and with the help of our neighbors, we got it up the front walk and through the front door(after taking the door off) and then back down to the kitchen. Then, we put it back together and slid it in place just clearing the top cabinet.
Today, we had another list of things we needed to get done and that was to finish installing the fridge. We needed to hook up the water line so we could get the ice maker up and running. It took a while and a couple trips to Home Depot but we got it done by late this afternoon.
We stopped while making the rounds and bought a bunch of “essential”things that every house needs. Flour, sugar, oil, etc, all things people need for day to day living.
For the last two days, Mother Nature has been on a roll with huge downpours of rain, hitting well over a inch. Plus, we’ve had big hail storms the last two day in the metro area. It started about mid afternoon and we got nailed big time with two inch hail stones just south of our home. Tomorrow, I’ll be up on the roof to see if there is any damage. We had our roof replaced due to another hail storm back in 2008 I think. It seems that where ever we go, we bring weather different than what is the norm. Record snow in Seattle, Earthquakes in Tonga, Hurricane force winds in Oregon and South Africa.
Tomorrow, we have another list to work on and it includes trying to get Tracy a new drivers license since hers expired a few years ago. From what we’ve heard, she will have to take not only the written test but the driving test as well.
This being the first time we’ve both been home together since 2010, we have lots of work to do around the house,
