Bill/Cool evening
I was up early this morning making a special barbecue sauce as I’d planned on making baby back ribs. We’ve seen them from time to time as we went around the world but the costs had always been high and the time it takes to cook them in our over made using that much propane for one meal unrealistic. Now that we’re back at our house, we can use a “real” oven. The sauce takes about 90 minutes to make as it has to be slowly simmered in a pan till it thickens up and doesn’t run off a spoon. This way, it will stick to the meat. I wanted to make sure I had it all ready to go before I started in on doing the ribs. I made breakfast as I waited for Tracy to get up.
Once I got the ribs in the oven to cook, we moved out to the “secret garden” for mor work. As Tracy cut some more branches and scrapped and shoveled up all the dead leaves and dirt that had accumulated, I got our lawn mower and took care of the back yard. I sprayed it yesterday with weed killer and I wanted to. Make sure it had time to soak into the weed riots before I cut the tops off. It was also going to vacuum up the leav3s and small branches from the hail storm we had a few days ago. Now started the repair and revitalization of the sod. I’ve checked the sprinkler system and I’ll be adding one more head to the system.
As I got the mowing done, I pitched in on. Cleaning the patio table and chairs as both had gotten layered with dirt even though they were covered. Tracy was using a shovel and broom to gather all the dirt and small stones till the patio deck was cleared. We set up the table and assembled the chairs and dragging out our old cushions but they still worked. Once we had lunch, we took off looking for new cushions. It took some looking and visiting stores but we found what we needed at Walmart. We returned home, installed the cushions, cleaned up some more things.
Tomorrow, fertilize the back yard and finish cleaning up the “secret garden”. Still lots of trees and shrubs that need pruning. The trash man isn’t going to like us next Tuesday. We plan on staying home that day to make sure he takes everything we’ve accumulated as some times they will take what’s in the cans but pass on what’s in bags as they have to leave the cab of their trucks.
