Now another big job.

Bill/ sunny and cool.
As if what we’ve been going through over the last week wasn’t bad enough with workmen replacing our roof with compressors running, nails getting pounded in and old shingles getting pealed off and the wood floor people closing off our use of the kitchen and ripping out and replacing the damaged floor, now we’ve had another water leak in the kitchen.
When the man that was to do the sanding and refinishing on the kitchen floor pushed the refrigerator back in yesterday afternoon, he punctured the water line for the ice maker. As we were banished from the kitchen area while the new stain and sealant cured(takes 8 hours), we had no idea that water was flowing not only onto and under the wood floors and the fridge but also down under the house into the crawl space soaking a few things that are in storage down there. When the Workman showed up to finish his part of the refinish, he found water flowing out from under the fridge and the cabinet next to the fridge. I rushed into the basement and shut off the water line to the fridge. Out came the towels to absorb as much water as we could and Tracy headed into the crawl space to find about an inch of water amongst the boxes we have in storage. It appears that only empty boxes got damaged except of course for the new damage to the floor. I placed a call to “Delta Disaster” as they are handling our current claim to let them know what’s going in and so they can confer with the wood finishing company on what we need to do now. The edges of these boards are already stained black from the water sitting on it for the last 16hours. I’m guessing it will all need to be taken out and then the underlayment will need to dry(another couple of weeks)before we can get new boards installed and get this project done. The wood refinished already loaded up his tools as nothing is going to happen till everything get inspected. Are we having fun yet?
