Bill/cloudy and cool
It’s been a couple weeks since I last posted and some good things have happened and some bad. As for the living room, Mike from Pinnacle Roofing got the ceiling patched where the water came in and ruined the ceiling and then they painted the entire ceiling so it would all match. Mike also showed up with our replacement window for the front bedroom and with a helper got it all installed perfectly and it’s a better window than we had. Good UV protection on the glass and double locks and a sliding screen.
As for everything else(the dreaded flooring), well that’s another matter. After a long weekend of our fans blowing on the floor behind the commode where this all started, the underlayment in the bathroom floor was finally deemed dry enough to put in the new oak flooring. In it went and another couple of workmen showed up the next day to sand and put on the first coat of polyurethane. One if the men showed up the next day(Saturday the 15th)and put on the second and final coat. Now we waited for the vinyl floor to come in. For some unknown reason, Delta Disaster didn’t want to send out a plumber to hook up to waterline to the ice maker nor to install the commode in the bathroom. The line to the ice maker has been broken for more than a month and I just keep going to King Soupers to buy more ice. I’ve saved the receipts so I can bill it back to them.
We’d been notified about ten days ago that our vinyl was due in last Monday and would be installed last Tuesday. As expected, no one showed up on Tuesday and we received no calls. I finally called them only to be told that our vinyl was just shipping that day!!!! What’s another screwup? I pressed the coordinator about getting a plumber out here and I got a call a while later that a plumber would be out Monday (today) at 0800(he’s here as I’m typing this). He’s already installed the commode and is working on the ice maker waterline. He rebuilt the entire commode installing new seals where anything came through. He’s now put it on the hole in the floor and has filled and refilled it many time making sure there are no leaks. So far so good. As for the waterline, he’s installing a new metal jacketed plastic line with lots above the floor so it can’t kink.
Now as for the installation of the new vinyl. We got a call last Thursday that the vinyl as in and would be installed on Monday but first they had to come back out and rip out the old vinyls base that was still glued to the floor. That was to be done last Friday. The bad thing is that the workmen sprayed the floor with a glue release liquid that promptly went to Tracy’s head with headaches and nausea. I put a fan in the window so it could blow the fumes out. As the workmen worked, they chewed chunks out of the underlayment that is supposed to go under the new vinyl. Now it has to be removed so we will not be getting our new vinyl today after all. Not so much because of the chewed up underlayment but because the vinyl was cut incorrectly and the pattern goes the wrong way on the floor. It was promptly rolled back up and is sitting on the floor of the garage while they find us more flooring. As this took over a month to get in, this better not take so long. Now that the vinyl flooring was a no go, we had them put our washer and dryer back in the laundry room(out of the dining room). Unfortunately, as they were hooking up the water to the washer, the valve that controls the cold water inlet decided to leak out the top of the valve! Man, will this saga never end? At least with the plumber here, he’s been authorized to fix this new problem. He’s doing that now.
Ok, now he’s found that the water lines from the wall to the washer suddenly have a leak at the back of the washer and need replacing. At least we have water to the ice maker and a commode on the first floor and someday soon, we’ll have a new floor in the laundry room.

You put your trash out in trash cans by the curb. Here, they put it in raised steel containers to keep animals out of it while awaiting pickup.
OK, sounds like a restaurant I want to try. Nothing wrong with a skull on the sign.
